About Alyson Gaylord, MS, RD

Hi, I'm Aly!

I earned my Bachelor's degree in Dietetics and Master's degree in Health Promotion Sciences from the University of Connecticut. While at UConn for my Masters, I worked at the university's Student Health and Wellness as a part time dietitian. During my second year, I interned with UConn Sports Nutrition where I learned about athlete fueling. The experience I received at UConn allowed for me to have a job in which I help guide collegiate athletes towards recovery.

In my free time, I enjoy quality time with my family and friends, trying new restaurants, walking, and being by the water. The social events I partake in always involve food – I consider food to be one of my love languages!

At Student Health and Wellness, I had the opportunity to work on a multidisciplinary eating disorder team composed of physicians, nurses, therapists, and other dietitians. While part of this team, I discussed complex cases with other disciplines to figure out the best course of action for patients. I worked extensively with patients to help heal their relationships with both food and body, and to appreciate food for all it can do for us.

Food is consumed for both physical and emotional reasons, and is a way to connect with yourself and others. It's a way to dive into your own preferences, and it is a way to bond with friends or foster new relationships. One of my favorite quotes is: "If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime." I would love to teach you how to eat more intuitively, be more in touch with your body, and trust yourself around something that is essential to human life yet commonly made to be the enemy.
